Irrational But Efficacious
I just bought a used copy of the Ayre CD Irrational But Efficacious and ran it on my Oppo BD205 at about 40% on the McIntosh MA8000. After, I played a jazz recording of my own making through my Teac X1000R. I have to say, it just sounded overall better.
What did this CD do to my amp? Well, whatever it is, it was a noticeable improvement. Not earth shattering, but just more clarity and coherence. Anyone use this CD? I think I'll run it on the little bedroom system and the Woo Audio headamp as well.

I have it and used it. To me it did make an improvement. I run it maybe every month or so and always as soon as I get new stuff.

I have never done this but will keep my eyes out for a copy.
I’m sure this will raise many eye brows on the discussion board. |

It’s a good disc but not nearly as good as the PAD disc

How often do you use the PAD CD in your system? |

At least once monthly. I run the demag sweep daily before critical listening. Some folks use the disc to warm up their tubes with. My system is all tube but I don’t run it that often.
I also highly recommend Jim Hagerman’s frycorder2 and Frybaby2 be used every six months or so. [emoji106][emoji106] I’m sorry I’m not doing pics. Just too hamfisted mentally to figure it all out these days. [emoji23] |
