Georges, catching up with AA while being in the south of your country and listening to my Zeppelin which accompanies us on (most) travels.

I have planned to visit Ivan next year in July, and all these wonderful threads just make my desire to do so bigger.
So you preferred the Aidas over the R1s?

Personally, I did prefer the Aida's ( it IS a reference system) over the TAD's but it may not have been a fair fight as the Aida's are on a Burmester system and the TADs on a Bryston system.

I could listen to the Burmester/Aida/JLAudio /WW system forever! I would unplug from all forums and retire from any other external parts of the world....

I'm not so sure the Bryston mono blocks come so far behind the Burmester ones.
I might open a discussion here...

I preferred the Aida's to the R1. They are close but not really in the same price range as there are 30k between the two.

Also to be fair to the R1, they are on a "lesser" system and the source is not as high-end as the Esoteric combo of the Aida's. Plus until Ivan finds a better sitting we were quite close to the speakers which prevent from getting the full soundstage effect.

So the R1 are disadvantage with the Aida running at 100% of its capacity.

On a side note, the CR1 were spectacular.

Bart, you definitively need to make a visit there. I can't wait to here your feedback and I'm sure that by next year, Ivan will have changed everything again.

Fair enough. I admit I am really commenting on the entirety of the Aida system and the R1systems.

That's the hobby, the whole really is the sum of the parts.

I can ever say without a doubt, I have never experienced a system like the reference system. Aida, JL Audio subs, Esoteric sources, Burmester amplification, WW cables. Plus a hundred other tweaks that only Ivan knows!

Nothing else has come close and it haunts me.
