A few other thoughts:
1) does it blow when playing the same song?
2) are your speaker cables the same length on each speaker?
3) are you running dedicated power line(s) to your amps?

No disrespect meant at all but I have heard the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. Something is badly wrong. You need to discover the underlying problem. It is not the tweeter.

Best

I have blown 4 tweeters on my set of 802d, paid three piper the one too many times to get the replacements in, changed to the 802n tweeters and have never looked back since, margin loss in terms of purist sound but my wallet doesn’t mind

I agree! It's like remarrying your ex wife all over again!

Yes, the aluminium domes don't shatter, and that seems to be the common mode of failure for the D's.

A better performance option though might be the newer carbon domes - as used in the 700S2 series. Very close to diamond dome performance (IMO) at a fraction of the price.

So these domes have shattered, look ugly, but has anyone proven the sound is really affected?

It'd be cool to go forward instead, get the latest diamond D3 tweeter!

I see you still have listed you have 802N and Bryston 7B SST. Guessing your footer is old?

I have clipped my Bryston 14B a number of times, but the tweeter survived.
