Good afternoon James,
I received my BDA314, and it sounds amazing. I think there must be some differences between my my old BDA3 and this new unit. My digital never sounded smoother. Best regards, Jamie Irwin |

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Bryston 3.14 DAC/STREAMER - Review July 2020 Hello Bryston, I just started days off and picked up my streamer. It is truly amazing! … I am astounded by the clarity. I successfully wired it into the BP26 then with some trepidation went on the “information superhighway” to order Tidal. Whenever I do something like this I have some concern I might accidentally slew Navigational Satellites or possibly Launch against the Chinese. That may have happened but the good news is that I now have Tidal HiFi. I also learned Premium doesn’t mean Premium but is 2 levels down according to the word smiths at Tidal. I am now a happy Streamer (very, happy) and wonder why I waited so long. Thanks for all your assistance and guidance on this purchase. I really enjoyed our conversations and am grateful for your advice. Best Regards Cal Last edited by James Tanner - Bryston; 07-08-2020 at 01:30 PM. |

Looking for a primer
Hi James ~ Earlier today I started a thread here on the AA Bryston forum board. I just watched a video interview with you, and you seem pretty down to earth, so I thought that I'd ask for your input.
If you get some free time, would you please take a look at the thread entitled: Can Anyone Give Me A Bryston Primer? Have a good one ~ Bill

Thanks for adding your thoughts to the thread I mentioned, James.
I answered your question (I hope), so, once again, if you get some time... Have a great night ~ Bill

HI Folks,
The latest issue of Absolute Sound Magazine has a very detailed review on our Bryston BDA3.14 DAC/Streamer/Preamplifier by Steven Stone. Please see the summary in the attached memo. You can read the complete review in the October issue of the Absolute Sound Magazine. james MEMO: To All Bryston Customers SUBJECT: Bryston 3.14 DAC/STREAMER/PREAMP Setember, 2020 Summary Since high-performance audio became “a thing,” audio manufacturers have come and gone. Many have been short-lived establishments offering “bleeding-edge” performance with equally short warrantees on products with limited lifespans. Bryston is different. Because Bryston’s roots were in pro audio, where long-term reliability is crucial to success, longevity has always been part of Bryston’s DNA. No other audio firm offers a 20-year warranty and is still around to honor it. This is one of the reasons that audiophiles seeking high-value components have embraced Bryston gear since 1976. As an example, I have employed five Bryston Powerpac 120 monoblock power amplifiers in various applications and systems (including P.A. and subwoofer) for nineteen years, and they are still functioning within spec as far as I know and still under warranty if by chance one does go down. That’s value. The Bryston BDA-3.14’s goal was to offer a similar level of overall performance as the BDA-3, while adding streaming options and a volume control, and upping cost by a mere $400. I think it was successful. And if I were in the market for a new DAC, with the intention of keeping it as long as possible, the BDA-3.14 would be a prime candidate for acquisition. The BDA-3.14 is a first-class component that could be the center of a high-performance digital audio system—maybe even yours. Last edited by James Tanner - Bryston; 09-21-2020 at 08:17 AM. |

added a Denafrips Hermes to BDA-3
The Hermes and using the AES input really brought the BDA-3 alive. Would think it would do the same for the new streamer.
