It had the dynamics of solid state with the tight bass but what shocked me was the top end which was detailed yet smooth sounding. The D'Agostinos startled me on some passages like I've never been from an amp before.

Call me impressed!!!

PS: I also spent time with Wilson's new XLF... I'll post some pics/video in the Wilson forum
I also see the mc601s there on the floor. I am curious, did you get a chance to hear how much they give up relative to the higher price classes of the 250's and the D'ags?

Karl
The difference between the Momentum's and my 1.2k's was significant otherwise I wouldn't have purchased the D'Agostino's. From my experience the 601's are competitive but not better than the 1.2k's and a great value.

Thanks SRT10-Viper, Turntable and Serge. I've had a chance to hear the Lamm 1.2s v Dags with Sashas but with a VTL 7.5 pre, not my Ref 40. I was very impressed with the Dags as well, best solid state I've ever heard. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to test them both along with Ref 250s in my system.

Are you thinking of making a switch from Lamm to Dag?

Wondering the same thing. With Dag monos at almost double the cost of the ref 250s, I wonder if the stereo Dag is worth a comparison? They retail at the same at the ref 250s.

With only 24 hours on the REF 5SE - I am wondering if your sessions would be different if it was fully broken in?

Good point. ARC gear changes quite a bit with break in.

I am thinking, but it would be a while before I do anything.

See what listening to my Momentum's and X2's started? It was just as bad for me since I purchased the Meridian 808v3 after hearing his in my system.
