Hello again,
Thanks for your reply and that was my guess to. I am trying out different positions in my room for the next couple of weeks. We also have some new furnitures coming in. But - I read in the B &W Manual that ... "Moving the speakers further from the walls will generally reduce the volume of bass. Space behind the speakers will also help to create an aural impression of depth. Conversely, moving the speakers closer to the walls will increase the volume of bass." I guess it can differ between rooms? Kind regards, Johannes |

The general rule is "closer to the wall you get more bass (maybe even boomy) and less depth" but really depends on the room and furniture. You must experiment. I can also recommend decoupling the speakers with a slab of granite or glass (3cm for both). You get a more precise soundstage and effortless delivery of the music. I put a thick cloth underneath the glass or granite and put the speakers on their spikes on top. It has proved beneficial for all B&W we had among which 800D2, 802D3 and 803D3. And the most comfy feature is that with the cloth on the bottom it is very easy to slide the speakers if they are positioned on a hard floor. In that way, with tiny adjustments, you will find a perfect position by yourself. Also, it is very important to have a carpet in front of them (the thicker, the better).
Hope this helps. Cheers |

Hi,
Thanks very much and I think you are absolutely right, I am in that part of that process right now, trying to find that sweet spot. I notice so far that the stereo perspective is best without toe-in so I will stick with that and try to go from there. Thanks also for the the hint about decoupling the speakers - I will definately think about that! Kind regards, Johannes |

Hi again, today we made this operation with a slab of granite and I really hear a better and tighter soundstage overall, thank you very much!

Diamond 804D3 Tweeter Question
Received a pair of Diamond 804 D3's today. One of the teardrop shaped tweeter enclosures was disconnected from the speaker. It looked like the wires were all still attached so I just re-inserted it on it's mounts. Is the whole enclosure supposed to come off the rest of the speaker or should I return?
