Steve,

Here's a snapshot of the right 30.2 on the Resonant Woods stand with the beeswax cloth layer. The MDF board is a temporary platform until the Herbie's Audio Labs Decoupling Gliders arrive.

Very nice stands.

They make me want to rethink things.

Thanks, Steve.

Brooks at Resonant Woods is a great guy, very customer-oriented and can build up a set of stands in your choice of woods. They are a bit less expensive than the Tontragers, and if you ask me, much more attractive.

The pair I bought were a pair that were refurbished after originally being damaged in shipping; a couple of the curved pieces were damaged. One of the frames also had a very, very tiny surface defect, like a small crescent-shaped dimple about the size of the top very edge of your baby finger nail, along the edge of one of the bottom frame members; you could barely see and it, and as far as I was concerned, it was a complete non-issue for me as I was getting the stands for $400 less the standard price. (Besides, one of my Dyns a very small cosmetic flaw on of the cabinets when bought them used, and I never gave it a second thought).

Well, that wasn't good enough for Brooks, and he fixed it anyway. I don't think he could deal the thought of a product of his going out the door that wasn't perfect. He sent me a note when he shipped them that he thought they were one of the nicest pair he's ever made, so he was happy, and I was VERY happy.

Link to Brooks' site here. GREAT guy, BTW...

Once I get them on the Herbie's dB NeutralizerThreaded Stud Gliders so I can place them on the and have them work well on the carpet, I'll send a pic of both of them in the system.

I may even set up the product photography lights!

Thanks for all the info Puma Cat.

I like the idea of the Herbie's Gliders being able to slide freely in the event of a quake. That will hopefully keep everything upright.

Looking forward to the next set of pics!

Hi Harbeth owners, I just purchased a pair of Super HL5 plus 40th anniversary edition. My room is 12 x 20. I have to use the long wall and need to have my rack towards the middle of the long wall. I would appreciate your advice on placement. How far apart should the speakers be, distance from back wall, listening position etc? I have them on 18 inch high stands.
Thank you in advance..

Hi Tie,
By using the long wall, I presume you mean that the speakers will be placed along the long wall.

For my 30.2s, I have them 32" from the edge inner rear cabinet edge to the "front wall" (the wall that is behind the speakers). I have toed them in a bit, so the distance from the corner of the outer part of the rear cabinet is ~35". I followed Harbeth's recommendation, which was to place them 2M apart. I just measured mine with the usual set-up I use, and with the toe-in they're set to, the center of the front baffles are 6ft, 6 inches apart, which converts to...1.9812 meters. So...pretty dang close to Harbeth's recommendations.

Also, within the general guidelines provided by Harbeth, I sit about 7 feet in front of them (7 ft, 6 inches, to be exact).

Here's a pic that would be representative of what you would see from my usual sitting position.

I sometimes pull them out and have them firing down the "diagonal" of my listening space because there is less of a back wall for the right speaker to have its output reflect off of, and create thus create a null mode in the FR.

Your stands sound to be just about the right height for Super HL5+.

Hope this helps...

Thank you, Pierre.

The Conrad-Johnson pairs very nicely with the Harbeths.

See my post about my measured in-room response.

Hi Stephen,
Thank you very much for the info. Your room looks great! And you have a very nice system! I currently have my SHL5s about 2.5 meters apart and I am sitting about 8 feet away. They are about 22 inches from the back wall. They sound pretty good but I will play around per your advice. Where can I find the general guidelines from Harbeth that you referred to?
Thank you ....
