Default Nicereview of the Octave Audio V-40SE from TheSoundstage.com...

...where it received the Reviewer's Choice award: Octave Audio V 40 SE Integrated Amplifier

Seems like a very interesting product and company. My local dealer started carrying it about a year ago. I may have to give their separates a listen (or at least their more powerful integrated, the V-80).

We really enjoyed that amplifier as well, and the MRE 130's that were reviewed recently...
Great company and great sounding stuff!

Jeff...I am going to try to give the V-80 integrated a listen (hopefully a home audition). If I don't lose much vs. my separates, I may downsize and simplify things a bit and give another brand of tube amplification a whirl.

Let me know what you think. The V-80 is a great amp. It might fall a bit short of your REF110/REF3 combination though...

All of the current Octave amps aren't optimized for the KT120's in terms of increased power output, but the amps do respond well to the tube, offering better bass slam and more low level detail.

Cyril,
I've heard the Octave stuff a number of times, and it's really superb. The integrateds punch WAY above their weight class with respect to their power ratings. Octave is distributed by Dynaudio in North America, and as I am on the Dyn boards a lot, a lot of Dyn owners that used to use various AVRs, or Bryston, Arcam, or other solid state separates have gone over to an Octave integrated and to a person, they are thrilled with their performance and sonic qualities.

Cyril,
Here is a link from the Dyn owners thread on AVS re: Octave.

I recently heard the intergrated at a dealer in Nashville. I was very impressed with the sound, bulid quality and looks. He had just sold the mono blocks and would be receiving more Octave products soon.
