OMG that thing is gorgeous and I agree, I would NOT be listening to anything but the sweet sounds of the engine.

I have a 911R being delivered to me in two weeks. Have been searching for over nine months. I was torn between pulling the trigger on this or using my gt3 .2 allocation for a manual/Touring edition (no wing). In the end I went with my heart over economic sense ( can't take it with you) and the uncertainty of the touring edition availability. Will drive the car not store it but limited if any track time. More long highway mountain drives or long flat highway stretches. I will likely still use my allocation for the GT3.2 but go PDK and use for track

Oh god - I thought I had moved out of the Porsche phase and into the audio phase. That video is enough to make one reconsider ....

It is 500hp and it is a limited edition of 991 units. At the time it came out there was porschephile mass hysteria you could not get a GT3/GT3RS with a manual. The 911R came with a Motorsport derived 6 speed not the 7 speed from the Carrera 911. Hence everyone that could afford the R, wanted one for the exclusivity and collectibility factor oh and of course to make a quick buck. $200k if you were lucky to get one and asking prices of $1M on the open market. The prices have cooled off since then and now you can get a GT3 with a manual finally. In the future I am sure the R will still be very collectible and worth some serious $$$. I had one on order as well but no luck since all of them but 7 units went to 918 Spyder owners. I was not 1 of the lucky 7.

That says a lot to me -- you're pretty tight with your dealers and unless it was a drawing -- I don't know what to say; but, damn bad luck?. Wish you would have scored one.
Best to ya Serge, Bob

It really wasn't up to him Bob. Porsche made the decision from what I understand. Porsche was hoping all 911R would wind up in the hands of serious Porsche enthusiasts and 918 Spyder owners who would hold on to them and not flip them. Wishful thinking on their part, there are more and more of them on the open market now that a year has passed. Still worth more than 2x the retail price but much less than $800k-1M that some early enthusiasts paid for them on the preowned market
