Default When to buy Sony?

Is there such a thing as, "an economical time", to purchase a Sony Bravia HX929?

I have a points redemption time limit with Sony and I don't currently have a television... I am considering a Bravia HX929. The points expire in January. There is a fairly large amount of points that will be wasted if not used.

It would be nice if there was such a thing as McIntosh points?

Can't answer your question on timing but I have the HX929 and it's simply awesome. I highly recommend using your points on one if you can.

---Get a membership with Sony's website (Sony Store) by registering a product from them (or not), and you will get periodic emails regarding their new products and their sales too.

* Now, your points are expiring in January 2013. Check for Halloween sale (Fall; October) and Christmas sale (Winter; December).

Sony is releasing the HX950 soon, so Black Friday or X'mas should be a good time to purchase the 929.

ok... good info... thanks... I don't know much about television but that HX929 seems like the one, at least right now, especially if I can time a good deal... I wasn't sure if there is a time when new models replace old ones and the bargains happen for the previous models.

---The Sony HX929 is a very good TV.

But the Panasonic Viera ST50 Series is a beter TV IMO. ...Plasma.
And the Samsung E8000 Series (Plasma and LED) are pretty good too.
And the prices of these HDTVs are very good also (great value for top performance).

I don't know how much you know about HDTVs and all that Plasma vs LCD LED jazz,
but those above are the best IMO.

*** What I do know though is that you have a fair amount of Sony points and you want to use them before they expire. Under that light, your Sony HDTV choice (HX929) is a good one, in your personal case and wise valuable decision.
That's how you think right?

yes Lordofthe RingsEE... I have to use my Sony points or lose them. I can wait until the end of 2012 is closer before I make my move. Thanks for helping me.

The replacements for the HX929 aren't due out in Japan until late 2012 and then in the USA until early (spring 2013??).

So, black Friday thru Christmas should be a great time -- that is if they are still available as the line is being phased out as I type this -- i.e., they aren't likely to continue making them, as want to get rid of existing HX929 inventory to start the US new release fresh, if you understand where I'm coming from.

The bad news == they may not even be available/in-stock during the Black Friday period.

---Bob has a very good point above; start looking into this matter now, and don't wait too long to make your move.

...Perhaps by/on Halloween make your purchase if you can find one around and that the price is right.
