My MC205 is probably five years old or so. It always had the buzz, but, as I stated above, the Humdinger took care of it. It's in my theater room now, playing quietly.

I don't think you are too picky. I heard the noise too, and it bothered me. Someone here on the forum came to my aid with the recommendation of the Humdinger. It's from Audio by Van Alstine.

I found the Humdinger by AVA when searching for the PS Audio Humbuster, a discontinued model that does the same thing (blocks DC which is responsible for the hum in the MC205). My Humdinger cost $125. Considering the $2000 difference in price vs. an MC207, the Humdinger was absolute great investment. I resides hidden behind my 205 and you never know it is there. Dead quiet. If you don't need/want 7 channels, the 205, with its three cool meters and awesome 200 wpc is the way to go IMO.

I tried to sell mine here on AA only because I was thinking I needed a 303 for more power to my center. Since there was no interested party in more than a few months, I decided to get an MC501 for the center and keep the 205 for the surrounds. Now I am contemplating installing two speakers in our Master Bathroom and hook those to the ZoneB inputs of the 205...

Cheers!

I consider myself lucky then. Brand new MC205 last year and absolutely quiet. I am also very picky. All components use WW PC's into a PS Audio P5.

My 207's are very quiet and are about 6 ft from my left ear. One is used to tri-amp my front L&R speakers, the other Bi-amps the center and powers the rear and sides. I think they are great amps and have plenty of power for my moderately efficient speakers. 95 db 1 watt 1 meter. They have a very sweet sound above 9 khz and the bass is firm well controlled . Most of the time I listen at 2 watt average levels with 20 watt peaks, with occasionally bit more power for the bass when listening to Telarc, Reference recordings, Sheffield etc. I love the way they handle complex signals with out a sign of stress or strain. Are they MC 1.2 k, no its my favorite Mac amp. But, I don't need the power and where would I put 12 of them? It might be fun to try 6 MC 152, to get the Quad circuitry and the new output devices the 8207 has, but I like and prefer the meters. I didn't like the meter columns on the 7106, and I am not fond of the fake meters on the 8207. That said I prefer the ballistics of the meters on my 2505 to the 207.
