Yes, Wadia 381i > Phantom > 302e > SF Strad. Using XLR for now. 400e on their way in a week or so.

It may be hard to get a direct answer to your question... I don't know how may people would have compared these two units. One thing I know is that Krell discontinued the evo line, so used market may be the only choice if you go with 400e.

My dealer has given me the 400e and 402e to test in my system for 1 month.
The biggest difference in my set was: 400e has more bite in the low frequensities.Staging and drive etc, was the same with bought of theme.
For the mid and high frequency, there was no difference in my set, so I have bought the 402e, because I have a good subwoofer.
If you have speakers that have a difficult load, I would go for the 400e or 600e.

Hello, how are you I give my opinion, as I have a very long experience in brand Krell , more than 20 years ago that I use ! hear all the lines and almost all models, and the main difference that you will have between the EVO -402 and EVO 400E is always monaural powers are far superior to the stereo at all , dynamic, transient , and above all spatiality and better restitution of the musical event, from both of which are excellent, but the mono will always be much higher , the issue is that it looks more expensive ! I currently use a pair of Krell KAS -2, made back in Krell of Argentina , with a pre Pass Labs XP -30, and Wilson Watt Puppy 8 and I closed recently, purchasing a pair of powers , which are in my opinion the best of the world, the best he 's played a couple of EVO- 600E , in my opinion, the progress achieving the mark in sound with this line , is truly amazing , compare to Pass, AR , and EVO- 600e are beyond belief ! are more extended musical powers, sweet , dynamic , and listen ! are as they say on their website , an iron fist with silk gloves .
For me the EVO line , inside are the closest thing to a Rolex , with all that that means !
I hope , helped to clarify a bit , you doubt these wonderful powers !
Greetings from Argentina

Hi Yuhengdu, previously i had the pass xa 100.8 driving my dynaudio evidence temptations, but when the 402e came in, it just bettered the pass, in every aspect. Speed, transparency, slam, soundstging, mid presence... thanks.

Given equal power, the mono amps will usually best the stereo version, especially evident in the channel separation and better bass control.
