Default Please help me choose the right and best streamer

Just clarification.

Glenn is probably not interested in a NAS or a PC / DAC type system based on my conversation with him. He wants simple but as close to SOA as he can get.

Will Roon run on an iPad or Mini? I'm beginning to think there is no 'simple' way of doing what I would like to do and an iPad or laptop of some sort is a requirement.

If he already has a DAC he's comfortable and wants the option of multiple types of outputs without "breaking the bank" I would look at the Aries G1 or the new Lumin U1 Mini.

You can control ROON from an IPAD if the ROON Core is running on a PC/MAC or NAS on your network. In such a case, the iPad is an expensive remote control.

The iPad would be silly if only a remote. As it stands, the Auralic Mini with linear power supply and a smaller PC laptop looks like the way to go for me. Will probably spring for Roon and learn it as I go. Still a couple of months out on all this and the Auralic Mini is out-of-stock at the moment in any event.

Craig - did you miss Michael? Rough seas?

You cannot run it on an iPad but you can control it from the iPad. You can run it on a laptop.

I use a samsung galaxy tab A which only cost me like 160 bucks. You can use any modern tablet, I suspect. The only thing you give up vs. the iPad is the display quality IMHO. The Galaxy tablet is perfectly fine for this job.
