Good thought, but does not have CD ripping capabilities.

Guess one could simply attach a CD/DVD ROM drive for $50 and install dBPoweramp...

☝️☝️ This. Exactly. That is a MUCH better way to rip.

Think of having a music player with with built-in CD ripper as a bicycle with training wheels. Sooner or later you will outgrow it.

Interesting set-up. What are you using for a NAS? A stand-alone unit or a USB drive connected to the Mini?

It's an Synology slim version with SSD drive that I mount on the Mac mini.

Bluesound Vault 2 is only $1199 and feature packed. It'll do everything the OP said he wanted.
