McIntosh MC275VI vs. Audio Research VT80SE
Has anyone did a side by side comparison of these two wonderful tube amps? Curious which might sound better. Since it’s introduction, I’ve been intrigued with the VT80SE. 🙄

With the same 75wpc rated output, if you are a tube roller you will be quite limited in your tube choices with the VT80SE. Unlike the ubiquitous KT88/6550 & its small signal tubes, there are few KT150 & 6H30 tubes available. Many of us 'tailor' the sound of our tube gear by choice of tubes. With the VT80SE what you hear will be pretty much what you get.

Hm, a side to side comparison would be fun but I'd probably stick with the MC275 VI. Newer is not always better.
