Default 2 Channel in an HT setup

My HT system consists of a MX121, MVP891, and a Mac Laptop connected via HDMI. I have a extensive collection of CDs (4000-5000) all ripped lossless to the laptop.

I usually list to my music collection using iTunes or Jriver (dsf) connected to the MX121 via HDMI.

So my (subjective) question is do I get a real bang if I were to add a C53 (USB) using HT bypass for 2-channel?

My front channels are MC1.2K and Focal Sopra3's

I use a C200 and Integra DHC-80.6 like that. Can't imagine ever going back to using only an AVP for 2-ch listening. Plus my C200 facilitates my tape machines, tt, etc.

I have my CDP (Pioneer PD-T07) and bluray player (Oppo 205) connected to the C200 via XLR and connected to the DHC via RCA (cdp) and HDMI (oppo) so each can be used as a source with each preamp.

Is the C53 balanced output voltage 2x the MX121? You might see an improvement in volume there I would think if that’s the case.

I don’t have the mx121, but have the Marantz av8805, and 2 channel was significantly better with the c53 running bypass.

Definitely an improvement going with a C53
If you are a serious 2 channel guy then you owe it to yourself.
I used a MX121 with a C2300 and C500 with excellent results

I use a Goldpoint SA2X-I XLR switch box between my BLURAY->PROC and DAC->PRE. Both connecting to the AMP.

This means I don't have to have the both systems on at the same time.

So long as the Goldpoint doesnt negatively impact SQ, one advantage of the above approach is that you could get the D1100 pre/dac instead of the C53 (assuming you have no other analog sources). In either case, if you want to get the best results from hi-rez native DSD, you should consider a windows based streamer (computer) so you can run the McIntosh dac drivers.

I didn't start with the MX so not sure. I just got an MX121 and MC7106, using passthru via my C2500. Passthru is great once you get it figured out. Kind of a pain but I called McIntosh tech support and Ron Cornelius walked me through it.
