I was looking at the specs. Does anyone know why there is no AES/EBU digital input? I would certainly want one.

Good catch. The C52 and C47 do not have digital AES/EBU either.

Believe that digital AES/EBU only with the D1100 D100 and D150 did not either.

The transports support the AES/EBU Digital Output. I think that what Mac is saying is that if you want the balanced digital input you must go the D1100/C1100 route, both of which are dual mono and fully balanced. It is an admission that when you have a preamp that is not fully balanced, balanced digital input signals don't mean much. I don't think it's much of a big deal. In addition you have the MCT input which is the one I would use if I were using one of the transports.
