Ok, this is new to me. I have not used such software yet but as far as I know CD-Rs have a different reflectivity from rebook standard CDs, which also has an influence. I would have also thought that the laser itself even in a decent burner lacks accuracy compared to a commercial manufacturing place.

I might try out the Steinberg WAvelab software. I assume that the high quality is already achieved with the Element version, which seems somewhat more affordable than the Pro. I have always used high quality CD-Rs and DVD-Rs anyway.
