Default Avantgarde UNO FINO w/MC275

Does anyone have this combo? The FINO looks like great speaker. Curious how it sounds with Mc.

No idea how they would sound, but the aesthetics of their rigs sure are spectacular. Really beautiful (in the right room/setting).

But I have not heard them.

Best,

Matt

I have not heard these, but I previously checked them out online, and really liked the looks and potential great sound. What somewhat curbed my enthusiasm was the pretty high price. Of course, if they sound glorious with the 275, the price would be more than worth it. This post has somewhat rejuvenated my enthusiasm. I'm gonna' see if they are at any of the dealers here in Bangkok and try to arrange a listen.

Good luck on your search. I sent an email to the factory to find a dealer that i could demo at and haven't heard back. If you find a pair, please let us know what you think!

I don't think Avantgarde is expensive. Not cheap also but when you think what you get - high efficiency semi-active speaker that don't need expensive monster amps - the price doesn't seem so high.

I have heard Uno Finos (and Uno, Duo Omega and Trio with different setups) with EAR tube gear and Kuzma turntable combo and they sure sound really good. Great micro/macro/overall dynamics, middle range is really beautiful and the bass is punchy and accurate.

The speakers are really transparent and if the setup is wrong they will sound somewhat harsh and the integration of the bass/middle/high isn't what you would expect from the price. But with good tube gear and good overall setup they are really listenable even with bad quality recordings and still very transparent with better quality recordings. I've heard Unos with Audio Note UK tube gear and that was really nice system. So they are not the easy plug'n'play choice but if you are ready to put some time & effort they will shine.

I haven't heard Avantgarde with McIntosh but someday in the near future I'll try the Uno Finos in my own system (C220+MC275mkV, Clearaudio Innovation / Universal / Dynavector TKR / Linn Uphorik combo, all cabling Audio Note Kondo Japan, Zingali Zero Otto horn speakers).

With the experiences about the different Avantgarde setups I'd say they will sound really good with MC275. But the rest of the system / setup has to be in line with the quality of the amp and the speaker.

Welcome to AA Vaakko.

Wow, what a great first post. I think you're going to fit in AA like a pea in a pod. Thanks for the great info. I am trying to find a pair in Bangkok to hear, without success so far. Your report is precious!

Man, lucky you! I would love to hear the UNO's!

Thank you all for the welcoming! I'm glad I finally registered.

I forgot to tell that a fellow hifi hobbyist here in Finland had older generation Duos with 275. I didn't get to hear that system but the owner was very satisfied, he said that 275 is so quiet that even those 100+ db sensitive horns doesn't generate problems. Now he has MC2301 monos with Acapella High Violoncello speakers... Havent heard that one either but hope that is going to change soon. I've heard the MC2301s at their original owner and he had and still has Acapella Triolons. Truly great amps, sure one of the best I've heard.

Avantgarde importer here in Finland is going to organize a trip to Avantgarde factory to Germany. If it suits my schedule I'll definitely participate so its easy to listen their every model if necessary. I also talked with mr. Krauss from the factory at Munich HighEnd show last spring and again a month ago here in Finland HighEnd show and I'm convinced they know what they are doing. And of course it's easy to validate by listening their speakers...

So McAmps with horn speakers is a good combination and I hope I'll be able to try Avantgarde speakers with my own system
