Default N100c

I emailed Aurender today and had a response within a few hours.

It is on its way to the California warehouse and should be with dealers by early September. Currently, dealers can order it.

Direct Quote concerning the coax circuitry:

" The SPDIF output of the N100C is essentially what is found in the UC100, but built-in. Its design is not as sophisticated as what is used in the N10."
Full specifications can be found here: http://www.aurender.com/page/n100

As always, the truth will be in the listen. I'll really have to hear this with the N10 before making a final decision.

Tim-

It will be most likely well into the fall before "the Moon aligns with Mars."
Based on everything rattling around in the old noggin, my gut feeling is that the sweet spot on the n100 series is the usb output and the coax addition will simply be a means to an end.
The n10 however appears to shine with its SPDIF circuitry. Lots of folks here with super systems have strong feelings for both units.

For now, I should re-explore my usb input and perhaps experiment with a shorter, higher quality cable. I had been using a Belden Gold five meter. The fun is in the hunt!

try the "moderate" priced TotalDAC USB cable, works a treat with the N100H.

(alternatively, an Uptone Regen has a simular result)

Thanks. I am thinking of something more modestly priced as I revisit my dac's usb input.

Have you used the Uptown Regen with the n100h? I tried a similar device made by another company with my laptop and returned it as per the trial period. The difference in sound in my system was pretty much non existent and actually degraded some music.

I am thinking of getting a N100H for my PS Audio Dac, any thoughts would be much appreciated. My Mac Mini is now coming on 7 years and is on its last legs.

I have used Uptone regen and Totaldac USB cable in both my systems, Uptone regen ended up between my Devialet 200 and Melco N1A(V1) and the TotalDAc USB between my Aurender N100H and Ayre DX-5.

Results are similar, between Devialet 200 and Melco N1A I get the largest gains, darker background and larger (clearer defined) soundstage.

Between Aurender N100H and Ayre DX-5 same as above (to a bit lesser extend, I think the Ayre DX-5 has a better USB input)

I have tried changing out a few times and results are repeatable.
