They are all 6SN7 tubes and have the same specs. Makes one wonder how much difference there really is between them. One can't easily compare the structures, for several of them have coatings.

Then there are the Shuguang 6SN7 and CV-181 tubes, which have a very similar appearance to the Psvane tubes, same shape. Made in the same factory. Said to be different, but who knows? They always say that. The Psvane T Mk II claims to weigh 10% more than the Shuguang Treasure, which might indicate there are real differences. Or maybe the base is heavier.

I know some of the Russian tubes bearing different brands such as Sovtek, Tung-Sol, Mullard, Genalex and more, are essentially the same tubes. Others are very different. There is a lot of marketing going on out there. Profit margins can be way higher if a company can convince people there is an audible difference. Sometimes they alter the production line to use a thicker glass envelope, then raise the price by $20.
Bombadil, you simply cannot judge a tubes sound by looks, internet myth, and it does not matter that they are from the same factory. I can say with certainty that the Shuguang and Psvane CV-181 and 6SN7 tubes I have do sound distinctly different.

Is there a way to tell if the Psvane CV-181 T MkII I have is premium grade?

Did you get a little test card with it? It should have some numbers on it. Premium grade has more closely matched sections but that is not critical in the Inspire gear.

No test card with my CV-181 T MkII, just a small sticker on the box with two numbers on it. I'm happy with the tube.

Too bad there are so few USA tube sellers handling these tubes. Grant Fidelity's prices are quite high. I'd rather not purchase from Hong Kong or China.

I bought most of mine from HK or Chinese flea bay sellers, h salience and funn_chen. No issues whatsoever. If the price is 'too cheap' beware. The T-II's I bought 'used' from a guy that had 8 of them in a Cary SLP-05. He did not run them long enough to burn them in. He bought them from GF. I do understand your hesitation though. I bought the US 6SN7 first just to stick a toe in the water. Another thing about them is that they do not run hot.

Can someone tell me if I can safely replace the 80 (4-Pin) in my Lp-27a with a 5Z4 (octal) using an adapter?
