I respect Wilson as other brands, but i don't share the permanent upgrades of many brands.
TAD was forced to introduce de MKII nomenclature only because it was imposible to purchase the original woofer material.
The MKII is 99.9% as the original. It was an eventual change contrary to TAD whises.
So the MKII is the most aproximated speaker to the MKI. Not in reverse.

Are you against technology and research driven improvements?

Wilson updates their products when new technologies or results of new research are discovered within approximately a 5 year cycle. It's not just marketing. Read the literature on the changes in the Alexia v2. There are numerous changes made internally and a few external, all of which are credited with improved sound. You don't have to believe that, but anyone who wants to hear for themselves can audition and decide.

I for one, feel that the original was not flawed, rather its a classic. With the new version coming out, it gives me an opportunity to move up to the v1 at a great price and I purchased it.

What do you think?
It's a rhetorical question

Wilson updates their products when new technologies or results of new research are discovered within approximately a 5 year cycle. It's not just marketing. Read the literature on the changes in the Alexia v2. There are numerous changes made internally and a few external, all of which are credited with improved sound. 5 years to:

"Already the leader in the industry for extremely unyielding manufacturing tolerances, Wilson has further tightened its driver matching protocols.

Work was done in the crossover to make the Alexia Series 2 more amplifier friendly by slightly raising the nominal impedance."
That's great research !!!!

"Using enclosure and wire management hardware first pioneered in the Alexx and the WAMM Master Chronosonic, the midrange enclosure’s internal volume was increased by 26.4%, and the woofer enclosure 10.8%"
Like that really matters !!!

"New WAMM Convergent Synergy tweeter, version Mark V. After hundreds of hours of careful listening, it was clear that Wilson’s tweeter continues to be the most musically authentic and intrinsically satisfying tweeter yet tested, regardless of diaphragm material."
Seems like Wilson feels guilty by the tweeter because he doesn't say anything of the rest of the drivers !!!!
Anyway, same drivers after 5 years.

"Wilson has implemented a more advanced mechanism for adjustment of the tweeter module, which now features twice the number of adjustments. The Alexia is by a large margin the most time-domain correct loudspeaker in its category."
Twice the number of adjustments !!! That was imposible 5 years ago.
You don't have to believe that, but anyone who wants to hear for themselves can audition and decide.
Everybody is free to do whatever he want with his money.

I for one, feel that the original was not flawed, rather its a classic. With the new version coming out, it gives me an opportunity to move up to the v1 at a great price and I purchased it.

I'm glad you make a great change.

There are many more changes than what you listed, but it's fine, you are welcome to your opinion.

I'm very happy with my many Wilson purchases and stand by the brand.

Too many changes in a short time.
In the meantime my TAD's CR1 are still a reference.
Solid concept=large life.
Just my two cents....
I think you may have overstated the value here

When you heard the V2's compared to the Original Alexia's...what was it you heard that made you feel the new version was more marketing than merit

Obviously i have overstated it.
I respect Wilson and all the companies that put their efforts to research and development.
Only was talking about scheduled obsolescence
Maybe i was wrong to post that theme here.

Now you must accept your punishment; an AA 15 second timeout.

Seriously though, everything in our hobby is always evolving. If it weren't, things would be so boring.
