When you swapped left and right channel interconnects from the preamp, did you swap them at the preamp end or the amp end? If preamp end only, you never ruled out the cable as the culprit. I doubt it's a cable, but it's worth the try.

Swapped them at the amp, not the pre.

I feel for you. The MC2000 is a beast to move. I have the MC2102 and getting the tubes changed out on that was a project. I'm lucky to live in LA where the repair shop will send a guy over to pick it up and bring it back. When my tubes went, some of the diodes and resistors also failed and had to be replaced.

Yeah, I moved it once by myself, never again :-) It's so heavy it has started spider cracks in the laquer finish of my rack!

Let us know how this turns out, and what the problem is. I recently blew a power tube in my MC2000, and it seems to have been similarly affected.

That is an interesting room. It must be meant for high voltage tube work. Not too many digital labs are carpeted.

Now I just need to figure out how I am gonna get it into the car, then It's an hour and a half drive to drop her off.....
