When ever I've been a member long enough for this forum to let me post pictured I'll show my first Mac system from mid 70s and I still have it. C24 preamp and MC2105 both still look brand new and sound as good as ever. Have a granddaughter at Florida State, she's getting into vinyl so I'm setting here up a system. Really torn between the Mac setup or my old Carver holographic preamp with Carver 1.5t amp. Leaning towards the Carver now and the Mac when she graduates.

Especially good for jazz, blue grass and smaller arrangements classical. Difficult to believe a 50 year old system can hold its own against much of today's gear. Man you gotta love that attenuator dial on the back is that retro or what.

Two of the very nicest systems I have ever had the pleasure of seeing! Shows a tremendous amount of thought and transports me back to an earlier time when speakers did not weigh a ton and the microprocessor did not exist (for home use).

Again, thanks for all the kind words my friends.

I have tried to recreate the system my grandfather had owned on which I have many fond memories enjoying listening to music together. My grandfather was a devout classical music fan.

He had begun with an ElectroVoice Georgian, and he later added a Patrician 800 when stereo came out. I think his first amplifier was a McIntosh 20W-1 (or similar) but that had been upgraded long before I was born. Not sure what the rest of the electronics were when he still had mono.

One interesting point - the knobs used on the speakers look practically identical to the style, size and shape as those used on the MC 240! I wonder if Heathkit & Mc used the same supplier for those.
