He said these stands are made specifically for the MC901, MC3500MKII, and the MC3500MKII. They were custom made for no overhang with these products. Although they might work for any other Mac product in the case of your 1502, I wouldn't remotely consider them because they don't fit. I bought them sight unseen on the road because I really want to do the same for my amps that I did for my Thor: give them a custom made base made specifically for them. These stands are as custom for amps as my plinth is for my Thor.
Agreed that these are a custom factory add-on from a high end manufacturer, no different than an expensive add-on from lets say Ferrari when buying a car. Intent being more "bling" than function I'm sure. On that note, I think they look great and can't wait to see completed pix Charles.....

Yes, I totally agree. They are absolutely custom and look terrific. This is exactly what Mac has done so why take them to the woodshed? They have a right to make money, don't they? I can't imagine anyone other than a 901, 1.25, or 3500MKII owner buying them. I'm sure they are making a huge profit. It's called capitalism. I like capitalism. I stopped buying ExxonMobil when it hit $53/share. Projected price target $90/share.

Best

Charles

p.s. Or 1.2, 1201, or 1000 owner buying one.

Hi Charles,

Your posts imply two great points.

First, given the overall investment you've made, these prices are rounding errors.

Second, I'd much sooner send a few extra bucks to McIntosh than to ExxonMobil. We should all recognize that McIntosh is a gem of a company in an extremely challenging financial situation. They're building beautiful products that give customers joy, in low volumes, high labor content in America. We should all hope they sell a lot of stands--they need to get those R&D dollars from somewhere

Thanks for the context,

Peter

Peter, that is exactly my point. There's nothing wrong about making money in the stock market or Mac making money on some boutique very beautiful custom made stands for 3 specific of their topline products. I spoke to my dealer today and will be dropping off the check tomorrow. He said he's already sold two more, this in just 24 hours, and I expect he will sell a bunch. He said buying the stands as opposed to the Pedestals was a "no brainer". He said he has the little cables that will allow illumination with turn on. Symbol Audio is also being greatly helped by producing these stands.

I'm old, have had three major operations, and lost my beloved wife who I absolutely plan on seeing again in the not too distant future. I really enjoy AA, the high end, and my music, so within reason and with sound logic I spend money on this wonderful hobby.

Best

Charles

p.s. I've also resumed roller skating after a 35 year hiatus. I have begun to understand how much of life I missed by working so hard. I was quite a skater back in the day. I skate twice weekly. They call me "the man with the magic wheels". The rink is huge and full of some of the best skaters in America. I just go out there and do my "thang". Don't know how long its going to last. I use a Riedell pro boot, Snyder Super Deluxe Plate, and FOMAC Premier Sliding Wheels with Bones Ceramic Bearings. I have a pair of skates on order with a Riedell Pro Reactor Plate, Riedell pro boot, FOMAC wheels, ceramic bearings, but when it comes in is unknown. Seems like everyone has taken up roller skating. I can slide 10 feet on these wheels.

Freakin' embarrassing...to put it in language appropriate for a 1 yr. old IMHO.

Hey...lets go to a home depot, get some wood cut to a particular shape...and then stick in a light...I mean wow. They must have put a good half an hour of thought into it.

Whole heartedly agree with you Charles. We’re only here once so make sure you enjoy it. I know nothing about roller skating but sounds like great fun.

Can you post some pics of your amps on their Mac stands when you have them please. (A bit pricey for me and my MA8000 but would love to see them).

Hi Dylan, I certainly will. My Riedell Reactor Pro plates are in my kitchen together with my Bones Ceramic bearings. Now I'm waiting on by Riedell Pro boot and I'm done. I had a blast skating last night. We had a slider's song last night. You race at the wall going as fast as you possibly can go, then turn the skates sideways, and see what happens, hopefully something good. I'm just kidding. Sliding is great fun if you know what you are doing. Only the super advanced skaters can do it on a modern floor. But when I was a kid I slid ten thousand times. I'm 2-3 generations older, so I know how to do it. I scare folks to death, they see this old fellow with gray hair skating at breakneck speed, and think the ambulance will be soon arriving.

Best

Charles

p.s.

Sliding to the youngsters means racing down the rink going low and sliding on your butt. That ain't sliding. The main concern I have is them whacking into me during my slide. Things happen quickly on a rink.

I used to love roller skating when I was a kid, and even later to some extent. They would usually have a rink employee skating along with the crowd as a monitor (cop) to keep the speed demons in check....
