The player is great out of the box....I finally have the system that fits the bill. This is the stuff that will be legendary----my opinion. The system looks great, sounds suberb and flows effortlessly with the JBL Arrays. In my estimation, the best that I have had & will last longer than I will.

Other than cables & speaker wire (if I get suckered into that ) I will be very happy.

Thanks to all that helped a complete novice.

I'm glad you like the player, how about the weight, bet it was fun lifting it into your rack. We're almost twins, our systems are the same except for speakers.

To answer my original post..I think not only a good choice, but an excellent one. I did the burn in as indicated and the sound just got better & better. I seriously can hear things that I did not with the Pearl.

This system is a keeper. I love it. I am done seaching.

I've had the SA7S1 for a few years now and think it is a great player for both CD and SACD. Every system change I've made sounds better - the player is not the limiting factor. Latest change was adding the audio research ref 40 anniversary pre-amp, quite an expensive piece and already an instant classic! The soundstaging is a revelation with this pre-amp and, with the SA7, you can hear it all. I really can't find anything to fault on the sound.

A tip I picked up, is to let the player read the TOC twice before pressing PLAY.

Interesting. Does this improve the sound and if so, how?

Just curious. I will try tonight........
