Here it is ! TTSuperRing Outer Stabilizer 1150 Gram 2 layer Dampened Nickel Plated (Bright Silver Finish)
Very nice metallic piece of work. I understand its price now that I see and hold it.
I don't have time now for extended a / b tests but my first feelings are :
- increased dynamics with less background noise
- increased details and resolution, especially for mids and treble
- the bass is cleaner and can seem leaner
- more precise stereo image, but I'm not much concerned about stereo image ( like Julian Vereker's former Naim boss, I favor texture of the sound and dynamics over sterero imaging )

I think the overall gain is :
- for "flat or quite flat records" : a bit higher than going from a regular interconnect to a high end one. Not a BIG improvement, but perfectly noticeable
- for moderately wraped records : of course a much bigger improvement
- I don't know if it could allow you to play severely wraped records. I have only one record which is not wraped but has a kind of severe depression in a 2 cm diameter area, and the clamp can't do anything here.

The great thing about it is that all the records now lay completely flat on the platter. It inspires me more confidence. I have always been concerned by the fact that even with new records, just a few of them are perfectly flat. Here is a video without the clamp : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNqX92c1Ps0
Here it is with the clamp : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9HxDeMZwNs
So something is very easily noticeable : the cart and the arm moves more vertically without the periphery clamp.
With this tool, the cart seems much more stable in the vertical plane. So tracking precision MUST be better.
Without the clamp, most all the records don't have their exterior border perfectly stucked to the platter : you see the border ondulates.

Cheers,
Jérôme

Jérôme.......This is very good news. I was worried that the stabilizer ring was not going to measure up to your high standards, and be a disappointment. The TT SuperRing looks like a precision made product, and fits the ClearAudio turntable platter like a glove.

I watched both videos you posted, and it is evident there is a major improvement in the stability of tracking. No more tonearm up and down motion as the record spins. This will positively effect the tracking force as well, since each time the arm is thrust up the tracking force increases, and each time the upward motion ceases, and the arm starts down there will be a reduction in tracking force. Your tonearm and cartridge, while using the SuperRing, will have a more precise and equal amount of tracking force applied uniformely as the record spins. The more accurate tracking has to result in better sound. Keep us posted as you become more familiar with the SuperRing. I like what I see so far.

Thanks Dan,

I did not think about the increased stability of the tracking force : that's an other good point ! you must have been a great engineer.
Cheers,
Jérôme

Jean-Marc.......Is there anything else you can borrow from Jérôme? You seem to be on a winning streak.

on the 2nd track with the stabilizer from about 39 to about 52. The 1st track 38 to 50. pretty much matches what happens on the on the 2nd track. she repeats Sunday morning and the guitar does it's little kind of a solo, you can hear a difference for the better in the guitar and Vocals. Maybe the drums too, but I am not sure.

I'm not sure if it's two people singing, You can really easily hear the two people singing or the first singer on the 2nd track (stabilizer). The guitar is a little bit clearer too, and this just from a you tube video.

I played them side by side, and it's really easy to see the arm having to do a lot less work. Which hopefully makes the cartridge's job that much easier...less wear in the long run?
