Some acoustic treatment probably before anything else... Still not sold on the MEN220 based off of availability and what I would consider "mixed" reviews.

My mind is reasonably set on the 1.2's. These things demand power - gobs and gobs of it. The 402 is no slouch, and nothing fatigues at louder volumes, but you can definitely notice a lack of control vs. 1.2's.

The 1.2’s will give the control and provide the authority to work the XRT1K.s. I’ve toyed with the notion of bi-amping them, however I believe the best route would be to replace them with a set of 2K’s. All things in time! Congrats on your new acquisition.

Welcome to the XRT club! Mine have been cranking away for 2 years now. Magnificent speaker. Give them some break in time and they'll get even better.

I recently auditioned the new Wilson Sasha's with high expectations. I was underwhelmed. Same dealer as where I got my speakers and he had XRT1K's on display too. So I listened back to back and the Mac's really blew the Wilson's away.

On amps, jumping up to 1.2's is the way to go. My 501's are superb, but I definitely miss that last but of energy -and I do listen pretty loud. The JL sub makes up a good bit of the difference. I do NOT recommend bi-amping. I started out by bi-amping with 4 501's and I prefered the sound of 2 501's. Definitely invest in 1.2's over bi-amped 402's or 501's.

Enjoy!

That's a nice clean looking system.

Since you're not one for hyperbole, at least on this forum, I find myself wanting to give those speakers a listen.
