My routine after reconnecting the mains is to first reset the power conditioner to turn the infernal LED's off. The I power up the MA8000 (used now as the C50 preamp) and I set volume output to Zero. I let it idle for about a minute before powering on the M1502 (manually, no trigger cables), which I also let sit at idle for a few minutes before turning on any of the source components that I intend to use.

Since I've been doing it this way I haven't had any issues with Sentry Monitor engaging. The thing has a hair trigger that's for sure. (At least in my unit). Nice to know it works though.

Hang tough on the wait. I know exactly how you feel watching the calendar days tick by slowly. It'll happen, just be patient and make sure you have help unboxing or have your dealer do it for you.

Thanks for the kind words on the review.

Thanks, Freddie. A very helpful write up, much appreciated, and I'm happy you've found that perfect combination.

We're counting the days with you, miner! Looking forward to hearing about your transition from 275 to 1502

Freddie, that's a great review. I totally agree, that the 1502 is a fabulous amp both in appearance and sonics. I am sure that if measured it would do at least 180w/ch. Unlike many tube amps Mac specs are minimum specs. This fact goes way back to the foundation of the company. My father ran a pair of Bozak Concert Grands with a MC225 (25 w/ch). Concert Grands had (4) 12" woofers, (2) 6" mids, and (8) tweeters in a cabinet known as an infinite baffle design. Really incredible. As a kid I would listen for hours at levels as high as I wanted. I never remember hearing anything but beautiful music. I think you will find that your 1502 will drive your Cantons to any level you desire.

Regarding the Sentry Monitor issue, I will ask my Mac friend about it. I have not experienced anything like this with my 3500's. What kind of power conditioner are you using? I use one Niagara 5000 per amp and a 20 amp line per amp. Total of three.

Best

Charles

I have connected my 1502 to power on with my c1100 and have used it with other preamps the same way without any issues at all. The original tubes had a very soft noise in one channel which gave me an excuse to replace all with Gold Lions. Love my 1502. It is a wonderful amp. I will likely not have a use for it when my new 3500's arrive but I enjoy it so much that I may store it for the future.

Freddie, that's what I thought before I spoke with my longtime (30 years) Mac friend. We had about a half hour conversation and among other things discussed this issue. He is an engineer very high up in Mac. He feels the problem could be with your power conditioner and thinks you should plug the 1502 directly into the wall outlet. He also mentioned a weak tube or poor connection between the 1502 and the speaker.

Best

Charles
