Hi Cyril. Yes the more time I spend with them the better I realize they are. I want to try them with a good SS amp, my house is so hot in the summer, but first I should sell some extra (read backup equipment) amps, CD player, TT and cables!!!!
Sorry I didn't see your TT message, I haven't been checking there but will now!! How are you liking it?? Can it compete with the CD 7?

imo yes as long as the upstream components are up to the task along with interconnects and speaker wire. They are so revealing that any error's in judgement on component selection/cable matching can have a deleterious effect on the sound. When I bought my used W/P 8's, my amp and speaker wire needed to be replaced. The amp was a Mark Levinson 27.5 and the speaker wire was Wire World Eclipse III which sounded pretty good with my old speakers the W/P's replaced (Aerial 10T's). I now use Siltech G5 Ls 188 (now discontinued) speaker wire and Pass Labs XA 100.5 mono blocks. I couldn't be happier with the sound.

Default Maxx2

For around 14 to 16k you can buy a pair of MAXX2's. This is one of the greatest used high end bargains around right now. Wouldn't consider a pair of wp8's if could fit the maxx2's.

Sam...I hear you on the heat issue. The Joules in summer must be a killer. Good luck with that and let us know what you end up doing in terms of SS amps for the summer months.

As for the tt, yep I am really digging it. I put the analog rig together (finally) earlier this year and I have listened to CDs very rarely since. I suspect part of that is the novelty of the new source. Part of it is that on a good portion of my LPs, I prefer many aspects of the sonics to the CD equivalent through the Ref 7, although on many albums, I still prefer the CD because I suspect the recording/mastering was just plain better. Next adventure will be a stand-alone DAC (or DAC/Transport combo) to play with music server or PC audio based source. That will be the project for back half of the year while I continue to buy LPs and fill out my library there.

In any case, every time I visit your system on that other forum , I always like to read about what your up to with your system.

I bought a recertified pair of WP8s lsat year & WIlson honors them as new. The $13K price tag was well worth it. At this point the Sashas are surfacing on the used market for about $19K. That jump is doable as opposed to an additional $13K for a par of new Sashas. I upgraded from Revel Salons - Gen I and couldn't be more happy. I can't wait to add my Lamm M1.2 amps in a week or so.
