Default REF 5 unable to mix single ended and balanced signal?

I just bought REF 5 SE and it sounds amazing. I am trying to incorporate it into HT setup. My 2 channel is set up via all balanced cables. My processor only has RCA connections, so I hooked up front L&R preouts to REF5 "processor" RCA input. With this configuration, I cannot get sound to pass through. (Yes, I did set the processsor input selection to SE.)

This means single ended signals cannot be output to balanced output. If this is the case, you cannot incorporate a single ended phono stage to a REF5 that are hooked up to amplifier via XLR. I am now wondering if this is a defect in my unit...

I had number of preamps before, but I never experienced this before. Maybe I am missing a setting somewhere. Or, is this by design?

Did you try pressing the bal/SE button on the face plate?

Steve congrats on your new 5SE. It is a wonderful unit.

Have not tried to run a processor thru mine - sorry. Have you contacted your dealer? I'm sure it's a setting we haven't figured out.

How many hrs on your 5SE?

I just tried it on my unit and it worked fine. I used RCA inputs. Selected processor on front panel and it goes into mute. Turned mute off and I have sound.

You might give ARC a call on Monday.

Ha! Now I feel really dumb. I am not used to this automatic mute function. I had the display off and turned it on to check SE, but didnt see that it was on mute.
Thank you for your effort for actually attempting to reproduce my stupidity...

Got it 3 days ago with 786 hours. Now it has 803 hours. Incredible pre. Went through 3 Mcintosh Pre, 1 Krell pre in the last 18 months. I think I found my final preamp - for now
