DV-50S - - UX-3 - - X-03
Are the three Esoteric players I've owned. Still have the X-03, I've had it since 2006 and I'd assumed that it had been displaced by legions of more modern players. Last week to took my OPPO BDP-95 and plugged it into the system with the Esoteric - and to my surprise, the old X-03 was night and day better than the OPPO - and I do mean night and day. Tonality, imaging, dynamic range, soundstaging, In every parameter I could think of, the Esoteric blew the Oppo out of the water. My six year old Esoteric is, perhaps, a keeper-forever - It sounds GOOD! Granted the Oppo BDP-95 is not the current state of the art, but it is very highly touted in these here parts!
