VICOUSTIC "TOTEM", Super Bass Extreme and Vari-Bass products
I see a number of members utilize the Vicoustics Wavewood products and other wall diffusors with good long-term results.
I have 1-2 specific bass (1 bass, 1 mid-bass) frequencies that cause me problems in this room now that the RoomEQ device is out of system. Has anyone seen or used the new "TOTEM" from Vicoustics? https://www.vicoustic.com/product/victotem What about Super Bass Extreme corner modules (with stacker bass, etc..) or the Vari-Bass modules? I want to do some minimal but thorough tuning of the room; it needs to appeal aesthetically and not wipe out/absorb too many freqs... Thanks...no expert here but in need of some help. |

Did you try any of these products?
The vari-bass looks good on paper, but it gets a bit mixed reviews. The totem looks good, but does not seem to trap a whole lot of bass. Quite expensive too. If you have specific frequencies that you want to cure, perhaps RPG modex corner traps might be the solution. RPG seems to be the go-to brand for serious acoustic solutions along with ASC tubetraps. |

No,..the US Distributor said he is still trying to get product shipped that was ordered last July. He also promised to follow up and get me some info and talk further but never replied to email or phone. He and that beautiful product line are written off. Definite disappointment.

Its a real shame with that level of service.
I just replaced 4 GIK soffit traps and 2 x 244 basstraps behind listening position. Up went 12 super bass extreme corner modules and 4 wavewood panels behind me. A short RTA measurement tells me that we are in the same ballpark absorption-wise with af few more corner modules vs. the GIK Soffits. Looks 10 times better though and sounds absolutely fantastic, compared to full absorption in my room. Well worth the change for me. |

I realize that this post is way late, but what specific frequencies are you having trouble with? the super bass traps by vicoustics are pretty decent, although the gold standard is certainly ASC. the vicoustics traps have a pretty high absorption coefficient (around 0.8-1) between 80-120 and drop off considerably for sub-80 hz waves. They simply aren't thick enough. The ASC tubetraps can go all the way down to 20 hz depending on how thick you purchase. I also think that the ASC traps aren't as attractive as the Vicoustics ones. I find that it is the 80-120 hz frequencies that cost the most issue, muddying up 500-5k, so I opted to treat those with Vicoustics and still have an attractive look!

Unfortunately achieving looks and performance doesn't seem to exist at this point in time. The vicoustics traps aren't even listed below 63 hz on their performance profile.
