As I am retired and on a fixed income, a MA12000 is too expensive to put into an office system. I already have a $50K main system. Anyone have experience with the MA7000? I could probably trade the MA6600 towards it plus a couple of thousand. That would be doable. Or, should I just put my GE Triton Ones back into the system and sell the JBL speakers? Comments?

What type of room and room treatments do you have? At higher volumes are you simply hearing reflections that smear and add glare to the sound??

There are a lot of causes for too-forward midrange; a common cause is the room acoustics and especially strong first reflections from the floor, ceiling, or side walls. With the L-100, Is it possible the front panel ‘L’ pads are improperly adjusted? It seems like after looking into the room that the adjustment of these controls would be an effective way to trim down the midrange, as opposed to replacing your amp.

I already have GIK room treatments. The midrange control on the speaker lowers the level of the midrange driver, but when I turn the level control back a little, this is a discontinuity of sound and the speaker sounds out of balance.

What, where and how many GIK treatments?
To be clearer, do you have anything behind the listening position in addition to first and second reflections? Carpet on the floor, anything on the ceiling? If possible, that is cheaper than chasing amplifiers.

I would experiment with the tweeter level control first, with perhaps very very minor changes to the midrange so that it still blends with the woofer.

Another idea - if you are using a computer source or if you have a DAC you can download JRiver and use its internal DSP equalizer to decide if you would benefit from the move to a McIntosh product having a multi band eq. The cost is about $60.

I no longer use a PC in either of my systems. I have a Sony HAPZ1ES music server. I couldn’t stand my Windows based PC always making updates etc and the Sony is so much better. Was rated A+ in Recommended Components. I have one in each system
