Entreq equipment? -> I have receive for a test the "wood box" with the grounding system for each "gears" present in the system. Is a very "new trend" , work good but at the end the price/performance are not a plus for Entreg. (imho) in Europe we have a good electricy line 230v and is very stable. I test Shunyata (hdra), Isol 8, Isotek -> for me? a dedicate line is the 70% of quality sound. Isotek no thanks, Isol 8 work fine, Shunyata bring a little more quality, ... a very interessing product is Gigawatt. this last is the best from all.... |

Does anyone know what brand of binding posts they use on the Sasha? Is it Cardas?

Here is a few pictures of my adventures yesterday:
A/B Testing of the Ayre KX5/VX5 againsted the Pass Labs XP20 with XA160.8 First up was the Ayre system, it was very nice in the mids and highs, but seemed lacking in the bass area. Overall the presentation was not too forward or laid-back, was very sweet sounding. Next Up was the Pass Labs XP20 with XA160.8, straight away I found the presentation better than the Ayre, the mids and highs were definitely better and the bass grip was absolutely amazing. Overall there was no-comparison to my ears. Both are great setups, but the Pass Labs was definitively better.

I used to have Pass Aleph 2's which were something special. Did run very hot but wonderful sound with a purity and PRAT which is tough to replicate. I feel Pass lost some of that when it stopped the Aleph line in search of more power. The Pass amps also run very hot so be prepared for living with that. Not sure what sources you have..,,you mentioned no phono....putting more into the amp with a good DAc w/volume like the Ref DAC or new dCS Rosini could be an option. I have the Vivaldi in the Alexia system and the Ref DAC in the study. Both are great with the dCS being the best I have heard in digital in my system. RefDAC is very good with a ref 5 pre built in but not as ergonomically pleasing to use as I would like. Based on all your posts I would bet the ref5/150 would be a combo that satisfies you for a long time. iMHO a big step up from you current Mc gear |
