Default Old Mcintosh vs New .... sorry if already asked (newbie)

Hi Everybody,
I am new to the forum.Just became a subscriber.I am starting building a new system based on a MC2255.Using right now JBL 4310.I am moving soon to L300 and a pair of L220.
For info I tried many amp in my life.mostly in recording studio(15 years of recording studio).Crown reference 1,Sim audio Moon W5,Amcron,fm Acoustics,Bryston ,Chevin to name a few...
I LOVE THE MCINTOSH SOUND.BAss are amazing.very very musical.
I have one main question :
How would you describe the "sound" difference and style between the old and new generation of power amp.
I listened to 2105,2205,and of course 2255
What i call OLD : 2105,2205,My 2255 ,7200,7300,MC2300,MC2500....(not talking tube here.
New ? ....all after those (MC1000,MC500,MC402,MC302 etc...)

Are they a good match to speaker like JBL as well ? What about a MC1000 per exemple ?.

I am LOOKING FOR MUSIC more than "sound". I am listening to music. I am not listening to "sound".

NOw I need to find the right pre as well. Any advice ? (c26 ? c28? c32? c34?)

Thanks everybody for the help !!!!

Phil

The L300's were my favorite speakers for 18 years. They have great synergy with Mac Amps!

It was hard for me to part with them, but I did...

I'll let someone else guide you on a pre.

I can't help. I have only owned the newer 402, 501's and now 1.2k's.

Older Mac is a little warmer and less transparent, which may be a better match for your JBL 4310's.

Hi Phil

First welcome to AA, this a great place with people who know their
equipment. I on the other hand am not one of them. But I do own 5
MC 2205's all in mono and one for each speaker. They all around 30
years old each. Each one has been rebuilt by an authorized Mac repair
vendor. I love the way they look and perform. But that's just me.
Good luck and have fun on our, your site.

pw8888.......In my vintage system I am using a McIntosh MA5100 integrated amp with a pair of JBL 4312A speakers with excellent results. The 4312A's are efficient enough that the 45 watts per channel from the MA5100 effortlessly drives them with plenty of volume, and that great McIntosh sound. Perhaps one on the older McIntosh integrated amps would suit your purpose just fine.

The 077's and LE85's in the L300 sound great together.
