Additional info - after more time listening with the LPI on my Avid Acutus SP, I am hearing more detail from the instruments being played.

I was with a group listening to a Nakamichi 1000. One of the guys did blinded testing on us Oyaide vs Stillpoint weights. He did this behind a screen and exchanged the weights while the lp was playing. He exchanged, we found out later, b-a-a-b-b. The 3 of us listening unanimously preferred a, and it was the Stillpoint. It doesn't compress anything, clarity, detail are improved. Before I spend that kind of money on a clamp, again, I will do a blinded test on my turntable against my Clearaudio statement clamp.

I think I posted a thread about the LP1 some time ago here. The results may vary, depending on the turntable. I found it to be an improvement over the heavy, screw-down clamp on my table, which is an extremely high mass turntable. But, I also found that i needed to make other adjustments to the system to get the overall result to my liking. Punchline: the stock clamp gave the sound a propulsive effect that was dramatic, but I think, in some ways, a sonic anomaly. Speaking to the turntable manufacturer, he actually suggested his own aftermarket, non-screw down ebony weight, so- at least in my view- the designer of the table (Kuzma) was not wedded to the type of clamp he supplied with the table. The sound is more 'pacific' and relaxed with the LP1, which allows more information to be revealed.
