Default Steve Blinn Design - Excellent Quality

As reported elsewhere, I recently purchased a three shelf extra wide Steve Blinn rack in aluminum with natural maple wood (pictured here in cherry I think). It's not cheap at $1,625 and takes 3-4 weeks to receive once you place your order - they make 'em when you order 'em and they can be customized to meet your needs/wants.

About a week or two after ordering I received the aluminum frame parts and hardware, the wooden shelves will follow in another couple of weeks. This is smart because it gives you plenty of time to properly assemble the frame (which takes a bit of time). I've begun that project.

If you've assembled furniture before you may have been disappointed (as I have) in the quality of the hardware (flimsy) and the lack of precision of the parts (holes don't align), etc. No such problems here - the hardware is heavy duty stuff and beautifully machined to spec. The floor spikes are big, heavy and finished like jewelry - something I didn't expect since you'll likely not notice them much when they're in place. This is quality stuff and the rack, once assembled, will be heavy duty and bullet proof but very nicely finished. More as I get further along in the assembly process...

Looking forward to hearing more. Carmen is wanting a custom rack with more of a furniture look and I need to fit the equipment. Maybe later this year.

Chris.......I don't think I would be happy to wait an additional two weeks for my shelves after the frame arrived. I could have that rack assemble in a couple of hours and I would want my shelves on site at the same time to complete the project. With a two week lead time for hardware delivery I don't understand why Steve Blinn needs an additional two weeks on top of that to deliver finished shelves. Just saying.......

Dan - the finish on the wood may need to dry, I don't know. Mapleshade takes the same amount of time to send their racks if you get a custom finish. But given the current state of my house, it's no problem for me. Plus, he doesn't charge the 50% balance due until late in the process.

Chris.......It's going to be a fine looking rack when completed. If you are happy with the delivery timeline, that is all that matters. I am looking forward to seeing the completed rack loaded with gear.

As my home reconstruction comes to an end, I'm getting excited to set up my system again in the family room. I've finished building my Steve Blinn rack and it's very solid and heavy with extremely tight tolerances. Very well made. Here it is - next up, hopefully at the end of next week, will be a picture of the rack with my components installed.

Here's the Steve Blinn Rack fully loaded. Note that I gave up a long time ago on trying to get either my components or the wood in my components to match in color (I just wanted the wood shelves to be light in color to keep the room light). But since I've moved the system in the room and rewired the loom with WW Silver Eclipse 7, I'm getting closer to the real results I'm looking for in sound quality.
