Default Westminster vs Kingdom Royal

I have been thinking of buying a pair of Tannoys for a long time. The two most likely to be on my bucket list would be the Westminster Royals and the Kingdom Royals. Which one would you choose and why? They do sound quite different but excellent in their own right. Both are very sensitive. The Westminster properly not as well controlled as the newer Kingdoms and huge to boot but mesmerising all the same. Anybody with extensive experience of both?

Howie

Hey Howie...as you can see from Paul's (Bluemcintosh) system page (go to the last few pages) he recently got the Westminister Royal, so I am sure he has some input for you (not sure if he auditioned the Kingdom Royals tho to give you a comparo). Here is his system page: http://www.audioaficionado.org/membe...system-15.html

Hope this helps and I am sure he will answer PMs on the subject

I've only heard the Kingdom Royal in passing; not enough to form a serious opinion. And I haven't heard the Westminster at all. But based on my cumulative experience with Tannoy, the Westminster is the one I truly pine for -- and it's not even close. There's no replacement for displacement, and the Westies have FAR more of that. How can anything else possibly approach a point-source 99dB/Watt with extension down to 18Hz? The Kindgom Royals look like they'd go a lot faster on 4 wheels...I'll give them that

About double.

With one square foot here easily exceeding usd$6k it's an expensive proposition too.
