Default Washline's Shrine and Sound Room

My wife and I bought our house over here in Seoul in 2010. It's pretty much paid off already. Koreans typically live in apartment buildings, which they feel is more convenient. Such dwellings in American terms are better characterized as condos. However, as an American who likes space, I preferred having a house. It's modest by American standards, but it does have separate entries and apartments on the second floor, one of which I use as a workout space, library, and vinyl cleaning area. The other is for my audio system. Roughly speaking, then, our main living area in the first floor is equivalent to the combined two studio apartments on the second floor. They could be rented if desired. My plan is that after I croak, my wife could do exactly that and pocket the rent money unless she somehow prefers to keep the audio system and room for herself

So here you have it. I now have Shakti Hallographs instead of those improvised bass traps. I'm using a Synergistic Research Tesla Powercell for my conditioning instead of the Audio Magic Stealth that I had been using. The phono preamp is the ASR Basis Exclusive. The turntable is an Acoustic Solid Solid Machine with the WBT 213 tonearm and a Denon 103R cartridge, which I will upgrade later this year. I have two CDPs, which I will be replacing this year: the Esoteric DV-50S, which I think is one of the best values and well built machines in audio. I also have the Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 300 CDP which I prefer for acoustic music. The amp is the ASR Emitter II Exclusive, the speakers are Focal Alto Utopias. I'm using mostly PAD Dominus power cables and Aqueous Anniversary interconnects. I bought most of this stuff used. People who work in education don't typically have a lot of disposable income. I'm always happy to help others who want to part with their equipment on the used market. Our voltage here is 220 and we use Schuko plugs, but I use ordinary American style inputs on my power conditioner. I hope you like what I've done with the space. As you will notice, it also serves as a kind of shrine to musicians I enjoy and appreciate and follows my collage aesthetic. I didn't care for the bare white walls. these images were laminated and posted. The hallographs obviated the need for bass traps. Later I would like to put some diffusers on the ceilings, but generally, I'm not finding much of an issue there as I get some absorption with the ceiling tiles. I will likely get the K-01 or K-03 later this spring (I've been saving and plan to buy locally new). I also would like to get the UX-1 used and use the DAC from the K-01 or K-03 through the digital output on the UX-1. Right now, those are at a good value on the used market here, and I know of one available. But first things first. The racks, BTW, are E&T Spider racks from China--all aluminum. I hope you enjoy the system. If you are on the peninsula at some point, look me up.

Bill - Very nice! Sounds like you've been able to find a nice solution by having one of the studio flats for your music room.
