Default Power Conditioner Life Expectency

I'm looking at several different power conditioners that have very different ways of going about their business. I know that PS Audio regenerators need to be reconditioned every-so-often. Is this also the case with Shunyata and Running Springs? In particular, I'm considering a RS Dmitri that is approximately three years old. Am I asking for trouble or is the used market a good way to go for the non-regenerator type of conditioner?

Thanks,
Brent

Shunyata are passive. I would be very surprised if performance drops over time.

Not sure how long it is going to last, but I am absolutely thrilled with my Dmitri. It is a fantastic component.

I have had my Torus units since 2008(5yrs)and no problems.
These replaced all my shunyatas as I found the Torus a major upgrade whether for the dynamics in music or protection, definitely the heart of my system and won't be leaving anytime soon unless Torus comes out with something else that's a huge step up.
These you units you have no choice but to hear the improvement as it's that obvious and they last.
I auditioned them at home before I bought and was totally shocked at the improvement.
If something doesn't wow me musically,it's taken back or sold.

I'd love to know more about this. Is that related to some wear on the capacitors ?

Would like to hear your experience too regarding above comment.

Have been using continuously a PS Audio PP1200 for more than 10 years now (feeding amps).
Thus far, only need to replace its cooling fan once. The rest has been trouble-free, and it is still going (as) strong now.
*Also a PPP for front ends - 5 glitch free years.

I was not speaking from first hand experience on the PS Audio needing to be reconditioned. I had done a fair amount of reading on a few problems related to the Power Plant Premier and the need for rebuilds. That was followed up by looking on the used market and discovering that many people who were selling their PPP had just had them reconditioned with PS Audio and the work came with a new warranty.

After all of the research, I ended up going with a new PS Audio P5. I liked what I read and new technology seems to have increased the reliability/efficiency. I'm liking what I hear so far...soundstage and tonality seem the same as my Blue Circle, but the backgrounds do seem more black.

Since I started this thread, Shunyata responded to a similar topic with some terrific information on power regenerator reliability.... Not related to PS Audio, but to regenerators in general and the different approaches between conditioners and regenerators.

I have about 2 dozen PPP's that were early production units. I haven't had a single issue with any of them.

Look at the 5th post down on the first page to see a terrific description from Gabriel...obviously a whole lot more informed than I am.
