I have the Denon DV3800BDCI liked it's video performance. If you are looking to use it as a main 2ch source, I would look somewhere else.

Video with SD is great. Blu-Ray is great aswell. Having said that, out-of-the box, the color is a bit over cooked. You need to tweak its' settings to make it just right. It is the same as the Marantz BD8002.

Cheers,

The Denon is great but my new Pioneer BDP-09FD is much better. I have tried your Oppo and it has good video however it falls short in sound. The Oppo like the Denon sounds thin in comparison c
to the Pioneer 09FD.

I am using the 09's analog out with my 5.1/7.1 bypass mode in my Bryston Processor.

This is for now until they come out with the Bryston SP3.0 processor.

It is funny also we compared the Pioneer BDP-09FD with Denon's flagship Denon's DVD-A1 Blu-Ray. No one can tell the difference in video quality. Where does the other 2G went?

Levi,

Great pictures, and I suspect that I would agree with you. The oppo only cost me $499 and I just can't justify springing for the additional $1800 for the Pioneer at this time. (I need to get a better TV first!)

Thanks Mike.

Oppo is a great video player, please don't get me wrong on that. It's picture quality you cannot beat for that price. It is also great for transport. My experience with Denon 3800bdci, the Oppo will give it a run for it's money.

How do you check which firmware version is installed on the 3800BDCI? Thanks.
