Hi JJinID,

Thanks for the reply. I have full confidence in kwi to drive the 7T to full potential. Only concern is their synergy.

Cheers

I now have the opportunity to listen to a KWI-200 in my system thanks to Dan and Kristin at ModWright. It arrived late today and I will be setting it up and listening to it over the weekend. Then it will go to my dad's for a serious evaluation in his system. I will be sure to post my impressions...

Very cool John! I happen to agree with you. What speakers did your friend end up with?

It's still very early in my time spent with the unit, but I can safely say that if I were starting my system over and wanted a very simple one box solution, the KWI-200 with DAC and phono would be at the top of the list for me. I'll post more on my initial impressions soon...

He ended up with Elan 15's. These were for his home office system. We also tried some Tannoy and Kefs. He really liked the KWI-200. I'm working on him to get that for his main 2-channel rig.

I have been using my KWI-200 with ProAc Tablette Signatures lately, with an exaSound e22 DAC. The sound is quite wonderful. I've had these speakers for almost 20 years, and they have never sounded better.

Still quite impressed by this amp. I don't think it is getting anywhere near the love it deserves.

So, almost a year after the last post, I am now using the KWI 200 with my Guarneri memento's at the office. Wonderful sound and a terrific match with Sonus fabers.

I almost sold this amp as I was using the McIntosh headphone amp/integrated at the office. My initial thought was that I would listen to headphones for the majority of time and only occasionally use the speakers. It turned out to be the opposite, and the headphones started to gather too much dust (figuratively speaking). I brought the KWI back in to see if there would be much difference in sound between the Mac and KWI. I was shocked at just how good the KWI sounded. I don't turn things very loud at the office, but even at low volumes the bass was more punchy, full and detailed. Perhaps the extra power reserves of the bigger amp make the difference. Vocals are still warm and rich (if recorded that way) and there is plenty of air and ambiance. Really quite a wonderful amp.

It would be a very fun side-by-side comparison with other top-notch integrated's from Mac, Pass, Luxman, etc. I think the KWI could hold its own pretty well.

I will consider the KWI 200 for my system, add the phono but not the DAC, still a VG value.
