I spoke to Dan Mackta at RMAF this afternoon. His business card says he’s “Managing Director Qobuz USA.” He was hard to pin down on a US launch date, would only go so far as mid-November and said it would be a soft launch with not too much marketing and maybe starting with a few beta testers. He indicated the most challenging issue for them now is the licensing of the catalog. He also said the catalog may not be as deep as in Europe to start with, maybe 20k tracks in the US vs 40k in Europe, but said this would grow as they gain some momentum.

I am looking for a replacement for Tidal. Not real thrilled with the catalog. The curated music sucks. The emphasis on Hip Hop has no appeal to me. Not sure if the Qobuz folks read this forum, but I am most inclined to stay with Roon. If Qobuz integrates with Roon, I think I will be one of many leaving Tidal for greener pastures. It would be a no brainer for me.

Follow the two threads on Computer Audiophile that the Qobuz staff are participating in and you can keep up with whats going on with the launch and Roon.

The curated music you mention is not a factor as I search for and play what I want to hear, never really seeing or relying on suggestions. |

Okay, it's almost December and Qobuz is still not available. At least I can't get it to work.

Going to be at least CES as they are still working on licensing agreements and waiting on Roon.
