Default First Impressions

Received a nice package from Ivan yesterday consisting of 3 sets of SE6 XLR interconnects, SE6 speaker cables, a Gold Starlight digital cable and a Silver Starlight digital cable.

After having read everyone's enthusiasm about the WWs I decided to give them a spin. Don't want to miss out on the party

I had the same reaction as many here upon opening the boxes (and nearly mangling my fingers with the damn twistys), VERY pretty cables. After freaking out that I may have ordered a pair too short (lucky for me you can rename inputs on the C2300 so the interconnect reached) I powered up.

Wider stage, a tad more detail, and more separation between the instruments! A hint of leanness but I'm prepared for that to go away after having read everyone's prior experience with WW. And, not overly bright (my biggest concern). Very happy thus far and, honestly, I expected it after all the rave reviews.

What I didn't expect was the Silver Starlight digital coax. It is connected to my Sonos which I usually only use for background music. It makes 320k sound like actual music! Granted CDs and HiRes are far more rewarding to listen to but I can now listen to Pandora and not be distracted by how crappy it sounds. I hope it gets better too because I am amazed that it improved so drastically!

Now I know there seems to be a consensus on 50-100 hrs for them to reach their potential so I'll post a follow up then, but, for those on the fence, I say they're definitely worth an audition.

Very glad to hear your first positive impressions; they will improve steadily over the next 100 hours or so.

The SE's need a lot of break-in time, as most silver does.

What are you doing for power cables? That is the best way to 'un-lean' the sound, imo (bass response goes up big time).

Next on my list. Pondering WW or perhaps something else for power.

With power chords and power conditioners, give Shunyata a serious listen if your local dealer has some for you to audition. You cannot go wrong with Shunyata for all things power related

I know i'm late to this thread, but I'd love to hear a follow up on that Gold Starlight 6 Digital Cable.
