Source 2 - Avid Acutus SP reference + Thales Reference tone arm + Benz Micro LPS (DS Audio Master 1 broken tip repaired but cost me USD2k. Still having issues - channel imbalance - back to dealer. However, channel issues not withstanding, sounded very very nice. Need to get it back soonest)

Source 3 - DCS Vivaldi + Antelope reference clock or Cybershaft Op18 (not floating my boat so far)

Source 5 - ROON ROCK with Aurender W20 as NAS & 2 units of SOTM switch with 10M input (the new frontier but still cannot beat CD for now) - ROON endpoint - Vivaldi upsampler

Amplification - Naim Statement

Speakers - ProAc Carbon 8 + JL FM113 x2 (replacement purchased - Stella Utopia EVO but due to lockdown, could be a year's wait)

Purepower 2000 x 2 (&$@#% but
sounds nice)

Shunyata Denali X 2

48 hours on the clock now...It honestly bettered the Scarlatti DAC after just a few hours...separates out the instruments from one another so much better....lost a leading edge...edge that you didn't realize was there...better resolution, tighter more textural bass...and just a zillion inflections to every note at every frequency.

For a vinyl guy...this will make me think about firing up the tubes on my phono stage...I can see why so many have so many good things to say about dCS

Now you just need the other three Vivaldi boxes!

It is an amazing set up, every time I listen it seems to just get better and better.

Enjoy the journey :-)
Marc.

The problem with dCS and Transparent...it's like drugs...you try it and want more and you might sell off a body part if you have too... Every step up is 100% improvement from before..most changes are like 6 steps ahead and 1 or 2 back...not these two brands...from my experience at least

Thanks Marc!

Totally agreed. The other thing is that when you have all 4 pieces the combination really takes it another significant step up.
Better start selling some body parts :-)
M.

I think this applies to lots of brands and I have no body parts left to sell. Oh, yes the wife says there is one bit left but it's so small it can't be worth much...

I have not heard the Ref XL vs the Ref on digital cables. If you have the older Ref digital...then the newer ones are significant improvement I suspect. Also, Transparent does have a great upgrade program allowing you easily to trade up. With your Vivaldi, I know you'll hear a marked improvement with Ref XL digital...especially the clock cables !

As for power, I've gone all Shunyata, and yes I do expect picking one brand will help you....

I have about 85 hours playing time now...just lovely music :-)
