Thanks, I figured it was an iPhone. Understood its a fraction of what they really sound like in the room; I made a video the other day using the X-H1 and the Rode VideoMicro mounted on the camera's hotshoe, and while it was...okay, sound-quality wise, it was clearly not representative of what it actually sounds like in-room.

One would need a seriously good quality, professional microphone and a platform other than youtube to truly convey the sense of a system playing. I've given up on the idea of recording videos of our systems for any serious purpose other than pure example and entertainment.

Puma Cat, congratulations on your new speakers. I can’t wait to read about how they sound. Based on Serge’s writings and other members’ thoughts, I am seriously considering Harbeth 30.2 for my next system. I imagine they give the luxurious Sonus Faber type of sound without breaking the bank. Enjoy.

If you call ahead they will set up the system you request. I wanted to listen to the MA252 and Overture suggested the 30.1s. You could request the 30.2s or other Harbeth speakers and electronics (Naim, Heil, whatever).

I have never been so satisfied with any speaker. The 40.2 Anniversary speakers are exactly what I have been looking for. I have no desire to jump back onto the speaker merry-go-round. There are certainly better speakers out there but I have heard many speakers costing five or six times more than my Harbeths and they are don't even come close to providing me with the listening pleasure of the 40.2s.

I have heard the 40.2s with more power and they sounded very nice. I may consider a major jump in amplification (and move my Luxman to the office) but my Harbeths are not going anywhere!

I look forward to you getting your impressions!

What do you have in mind for amplification Greg?

Hi Serge,

I’ll be trying the new Gato 4004.

Luxman 900 combo keeps calling my name but I’m not looking forward to 100+ pound amps. I’m getting too old!

Way to go Pumacat... I had noticed you where a fan of the brand same as I, it always feels good to scratch and itch. Looking forward to hear of your impressions on the new speakers. I’ve had my Harbeth for only four months and one thing is certain my listening sessions are longer than before, good times ahead. Congrats.

RC.

Thanks, RC. I am really enjoying them. I was reading the information sheet/owner's certificate and it mentioned that they are ready to go after only a few hours of play, so that will be welcome. New Dynaudios take a good 300-400 hours to run in, and they go through a phase of not sounding very good at all during that interval. So, this will be a welcome change.

I just noticed that the 30.2s, with their Silver Eucalyptus veneer, are "book-matched on all cabinet surfaces, so the grain of the wood on any panel are identical on the Left and Right speaker. A subtle but nice touch.

Stay tuned, more to come.
