Default New Dynaudio Focus Lineup

Dynaudio have just completely revamped their Focus lineup:

Dynaudio - All there is.

I know that most folks here have Sonus Fabers or Wilsons, but those of that haven't experienced Dynaudio's products have missed out on a very fine speaker manufacturer; IMO, one of the very best speaker manufacturers in the world. All of Dyn's products are beautifully designed and manufactured, and their speakers are typified by a very neutral, yet very musical and involving speaker that you can listen to for hours on end. While some other mfrs may have more flash in the showroom, Dyns are a speaker you can actually live with and really enjoy music for a long, long time. Each product line (Excite, Focus, Contour, Confidence and Evidence) can compete with speakers costing several times their price. BTW, Dynaudio is one of the very few speaker manufacturers that still designs and manufacture their own drivers, and manufacturers from other companies, notably Wilson, Vienna Acoustics, and Eggleston Works have sourced their drivers from Dynaudio.

Those of you in the market for speakers in the price range of the new Focus lineup should check them out, they will really surprise you...

Here are prices for the various models:

Focus 160 2-Way Bookshelf $2,900/pr MSRP

Focus 260 2-Way Floor Standing $4,900/pr MSRP

Focus 340 3-Way Floor Standing $7,500/pr MSRP

Focus 380 3-Way Floor Standing $9,500/pr MSRP

Focus 210C 2-Way Center $1,800/ea MSRP

I agree , as a builder their drivers esp their mids and tweeters are world class!

I have owned many high name brand systems, and a few years back i decided as an electronic / computer person I would learn and build my own ultra high-end gear. I started using their drivers, and I own aa center ch and a set of 3 way towers made by Dynaudio in my living room.

Other than that i still build with their drivers.

I auditioned the Excites and Contours, liking the latter much better. Am waiting to hear the Focus 160 and 260. Only comparison that I've done in the same audition room was with Linn's. Liked the Dynaudio better, but not quite sure why. Anyone have or know about Spendor?

Last weekend I spent some time listening to the previous generation Focus 140's and to say they are excellent is an understatement.
With the changes made to the Focus 160 I can only imgine that it will be quite special indeed.

This experience was a very nice motivator to help pass the time while waiting for my new Dynaudio's to arrive!

I enjoyed my time with Dynaudio 72SE's which were then replaced by 3 pairs of Sonus Faber, followed by 3 pairs of Wilson, followed by 3 pairs of Tannoy...

Dynaudio builds nice speakers.

In a 12L x 12w x 10'H room, I would venture to say that the Focus 140's can compete with anything I have ever heard. The cabinets are 14"h x 11"d x 8"w with a soundstage and detailed bass that does not seem possible. I will start a thread on my new small den system when my BDI cabinet arrives later this week in order to include pictures.
Audio 1 (Buddy) and I listened Saturday evening, completely in awe by what we were hearing.

The Focus 160s will be better than the previous Focus 140s, but the Contours (e.g. the S1.4s) will still be better. They are built to a higher specification all the way around, the from talking to the Dyn NA rep, the Contours are still superior. That's not to say either of the Focus are not truly excellent speakers....they are.
