Esotar vs. Esotec
Some of the Countour line has Esotar ie the big speakers and center. The others have the Esotech. Would the systems be voice matched if the tweeters were not the same? Keep in mind I have little knowledge of electrical engineering.

What do you mean by "would the systems be voice matched if the tweeters were not the same?" Are you referring to using a mix of speakers, like for 5.1 for home theatre?

It has to do with each tweeter's "timbre". Which boils down to each's dispersion characteristics, distortion levels, and voicing(via crossover).

That was me talking about upgrading my 3.4s to the Esotar2...that would be for a 2-channel system. The S5.4 is the only speaker that uses the Esotar, unless the Contour SCX center does as well, not sure about that speaker. The S3.4, S1.4, and Contour SR all use the Esotec+ tweeter. If used in a 5.1 system, there shouldn't be any issues using a mix of the tweeters. It would not be cost effective to upgrade SRs to Esotar tweeters because a pair of Esotar2 tweeters costs $1800, close to the cost of the speakers themselves!

The Contour SCX does use the Esotar tweeter as well.

Okay, kinda thought so because it often gets used in Confidence-based 5.1 home theatre systems, either in conjunction with C1s or C2s.
