I was impressed with the Contour's. He had them powered by that new Linn DS-1 (?), if I remember the designation correctly. But he did not have the 140's or 160's. What would you power the 140's or 160's with? I'm starting over, and the budget is limited at this time, so I'll probably try to find an integrated. I did audition SimAudio and Naim the other day. But they were hooked up to Spendor's, which weren't bad as well. These were the Spendor A5's.

I'm finding that it's not all that easy to go from one dealer to another and carry around what you heard at one place and try to compare to the next. Almost want to buy a component, be they speakers or an intergrated amp, and carry that with me so at least something remains the same.........

You could power the 140s with any of a number of components, Dyns are easy to drive...a Naim integrated would be a good bet, or the SimAudio. Depending on your price range, you could also go with used Belles or C-J separates, say a tube pre and a SS amp.

For example, this C-J duo would run you about $1500, and sound great. The SS amp would give you give power for the Dyns.

Add a REL T-5 or T-7 sub at some point in time and you're good to for a long time with a great sounding system.
